Partnerships and humanitarian projects on the international stage

The Conseil Général du Bas-Rhin has developed long-term partnerships with different foreign regions since the end of the 1980s. It is also involved in international humanitarian projects through its support of local Bas-Rhin actors working in this field.

The Département du Bas-Rhin and the Silesian Voivodeship (Poland) have been working together since 1998. Initial cooperation in the fields of the economy and tourism has gradually expanded to take in inter-institutional knowledge-sharing and cross-cultural exchanges.
Partnership with the county of Prahova (Romania)
The département du Bas-Rhin and the county of Prahova (Romania) signed a partnership agreement in July 2005, which has led to meetings on an occasional basis.

The Conseil Général du Bas-Rhin and the Region of Vidzeme have been engaged in cooperation since 2005 in two main areas: inter-institutional knowledge-sharing and cross-cultural exchanges.
Bas-Rhin - Madagascar: solidarity between the Ill and the "Grande île"
Due to its desire to get involved in international humanitarian projects, the Conseil Général joined forces with the institut régional de coopération développement (IRCOD - Regional Institute for Cooperation and development), in 2000, by embarking on a partnership with local government authorities in the Boeny and Betsiboka regions of Madagascar.
